Age of Empires team hints Mythology is next

Eurogamer got an interesting tidbit from Microsoft regarding the beloved Age of Mythology spinoff RTS. Creative Director Adam Isgreen with Microsoft spoke on the subject of its future:

“So we’re going to be doing a patch for Age of Mythology [Extended Edition] really soon, because there are some exploits and some things out there that we know players would love us to get rid of, so we’re going to be doing that. After we get through the Definitive Editions for the three here, and 4 is kind of rolling, then we’re going to look back and see what we can do with Myth. Because I love Myth, we’re not going to leave it behind, we’ll figure out what to do with it then.”

The Extended Edition of Age of Mythology released in 2014, in a similar vein as Age of Empires 2 HD. While the Empires trilogy is getting another new coat of paint as Definitive Editions while the fourth game is in production, Mythology is getting some love in the future. We can’t be sure what will come of any Age of Mythology project but a Definitive remake makes sense.

The other dose of mid-2000s strategy nostalgia at E3 this year was a new Age of Wonders from Paradox.
