EVO 2019’s Sunday finals kicked off with BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle and we got a major update announcement. The “2.0” version update will bring along 9 new characters to the game, and new franchises to crossover into the tag team fighter. Four characters were confirmed:
- Yumi from Senran Kagura: Estival Versus
- Akatsuki and Blitztank from Akatsuki Blitzkampf
- Neo Politan joins the rest of the RWBY cast
Akatsuki Blitzkampf is a decidedly niche game and even wilder still is the inclusion of Blitztank, a playable tank from the original. Everything it does is a projectile attack, and it’ll be curious to see how the ridiculous moves in Cross Tag Battle affect this monster of a character.
Akatsuki is a much more popular character, since he’s a guest in Under Night In-Birth which was featured as a headline game at EVO this year. Alongside roster additions, new story mode content, balance changes and system mechanics are included in the initial update.
BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle 2.0 is set to release November 21, 2019 as a free update with paid DLC characters.
