While E3’s Gears 5 presentation emphasized the new Escape mode, The Coalition is ready to strap you into traditional PvP later this month. The Gears 5 Multiplayer Tech Test will run from July 19th to the 21st. The test begins and ends at about 1 PM Eastern on those dates. Downloads will begin on the 17th and if you miss out on this one you can expect another test to run from the 26th to 29th.
In terms of content, you can expect the competitive Escalation game mode, Arcade casual playlists and King of the Hill. A new training mode called Bootcamp will be playable and you can take on a Tour of Duty to earn unique rewards that will carry over into the full release.
Don’t fret if you’re not pre-ordering: The tech test will be available to all Xbox Game Pass subscribers. This includes Xbox One and PC, but you will need Xbox Live Gold on Xbox One. The recommended hardware requirements for the tech test have been posted:
