Larian confirms Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 - Official Announcement Trailer

We’ve known Divinity studio Larian was working on something since they mentioned a project as early as 2017, and we’re treated with a trailer for the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 as part of the surprise announcements for Stadia Connect. We don’t have a release date at the time of writing but we’re sure about a PC release alongside Google’s Stadia streaming platform.

One of the facts we know about the story behind Baldur’s Gate 3 is that the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons campaign Descent into Avernus will directly precede the events of the PC RPG. That said, the game taking place in the same canon will mean the same rules and the developers have stated in interviews that we can expect the table-top roleplaying ruleset 5e to carry over.

This writer is personally very excited at the idea of getting the gold-standard Divinity series engine and featureset into the rich universe of D&D. We’ll keep an eye out for the release date.
