Monster Hunter: World adds Nvidia DLSS for better hi-rez FPS

If you’ve been playing a lot of Monster Hunter: World and also happen to own a snazzy monitor and Nvidia GPU, you’ll be sitting pretty at max settings very soon. Nvidia has announced that Capcom will be implementing Nvidia DLSS to improve framerates at higher resolutions when you just have to run everything at the highest graphical settings. In fact, the option to enable DLSS is only applicable to gaming at resolutions of 1440p or higher with the High Resolution Texture Pack to crank your VRAM usage to the limits.

Not only that, you’ll need to have an RTX card to take advantage of Nvidia DLSS. Why is that? It’s because this technique of rendering is tied to the Tensor AI cores embedded in RTX branded GPUs. It’s also only recommended at much higher than usual workloads because AI’s predictions of frames instead of rendering the next whole frame is only useful when the AI can be quicker than a full render. Nvidia has provided some benchmarks to give you an idea of what they aim to achieve:

It’s a fast process but, not fast enough that you’ll need it when you play your run of the mill games at 1080p with stock settings. You’ll also see a “Sharpness” slider to control the fidelity of the AI’s images, because it’s only predicting the next frame and not really looking at the 3D world.

To take advantage of Nvidia DLSS for Monster Hunter: World, you’ll need to install the latest Game Ready driver and download the game title update coming July 17th. If you have a GPU with 8GB of VRAM or more, Capcom has provided a free High Resolution Texture Pack for your viewing pleasure.
