Pokémon Masters: First details, art and screenshots

The Pokémon Company had announced Masters alongside Sleep and Home before E3, and now we know what Pokémon Masters looks like. The game is a 3-on-3 battling game based on the iconic trainers and their signature Pokémon from the mainline RPG. The project is developed by DeNA who previously worked on Dragalia Lost for Nintendo. It’s scheduled for a summer release on Android and iOS. Check out the animated trailer.

The collectable characters will be called “sync pairs” of a trainer and their Pokémon. For example, you can collect Cynthia with her Garchomp. Players will have to assemble their sync pairs into teams of three pairs to do battle against AI enemies. Each sync pair has unique abilities on the Pokémon and trainer, with roles and items adding variation to a pair. The combat shifts to a “move gauge” system with real time action. Players will manage their move gauge based on how much they need to spend for an ability, timing recharging with the right amount of gauge.

As far as the setting we know it takes place upon the artificial island of Pasio. Here trainers will compete in the Masters League Tournament and befriending a trainer is key to unlocking them. Check out our screenshot gallery and let us know what you think.
