That’s right, Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed until September and is the second big spring RPG release that has been delayed this week. Just a few days ago, I talked about how the Final Fantasy VII Remake was going to have to contend with releasing a week before Cyberpunk 2077.
As it turns out, I was wrong. We aren’t sure if Square-Enix knew something ahead of time and made this move with insider info, but it definitely has proved to be very serendipitous. I concede that it might be a coincidence, but those seem to be rare in this industry.
The current release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is September 17th, 2020. That day might hold a little significance, as it is apparently Batman Day and the birthday of rapper Flo Rida, though we aren’t sure if that factored into the decision.

While I am sure that the game will undoubtedly benefit from the added polish, I’m definitely concerned for the employees. The video game industry tends to totally disregard the wellbeing of its employees during crunch time. I’m hoping that CD Projekt Red doesn’t overdo it.
