GOG updates Diablo with unofficial Hellfire expansion

Hellfire is an add-on to the 1996 RPG classic RPG Diablo developed by Blizzard’s parent company in those days Sierra On-line. Developed by a separate studio (Blizzard expressed disagreement to the project at the start) and a wholly single player experience, the Hellfire expansion introduced the Monk and expanded upon the storyline. Now, GOG has revived the expansion and included it as a free update to their offering of the game on their store. According to GOG, the decision was done at the request of the players of the re-release and given the go-ahead by Blizzard themselves. Talk about retro appeal.

Diablo Wiki describes the contents of the unofficial expansion as the following:

The expansion pack adds several enhancements to Diablo, including an additional Monk class, two new dungeon settings, namely The Festering Nest and the Demon Crypts, additional quests to undertake, several extra game items, including oils which affect item statistics, runes that can be placed as traps, a new page of spells, new affixes for weapons and armor, new shrines, new mini-boss enemy names, a noticeable boost to Diablo’s strength and power, and a number of interface improvements.

If you’ve lost your disc in your garage since the game came out in 1996, you can get it on GOG with the Hellfire expansion for $9.99 (with 10% to commemorate the update for a short time).
