Either one of these announcements were going to generate hype — especially in the face of the recent leaks that now may have some truth. Nintendo started off their E3 direct with a trailer confirming Dragon Quest’s Hero protagonist is the next fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While you can play as the Dragon Quest XI iteration of the character, you can swap skins to get any of the previous heroes. Nintendo promotes this just in time for Dragon Quest XI S to release as an enhanced port of the JRPG modern classic. Check out that trailer above.
The bigger announcement for the western world is Banjo-Kazooie is coming to Smash. The bird-bear duo were hinted at by Microsoft listing the Nintendo Direct as a “place to be” at E3, and we got a great trailer to build the hype. Banjo-Kazooie lands after the Hero, both for this year. Check out that second trailer below.
